Kararaina Te Ira

I mahi ahau i roto Aotearoa, i tā wāhi hoki, hei hāpai i ngā kaupapa tūhonohono ki waenganui ngā taonga me ngā hāpori. Otirā, ko te oranga o ngā taonga ā iwi, tāku tino mahi. Ko te mahi penapena taonga, te mahi tiaki taonga, āku nei pūkenga matua.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive training in, and have been engaged in, many
different facets of the heritage sector. My experience and contributions in this sector includes the conservation of indigenous cultural material, where I have specialized in objects and textiles conservation. My career has extended to the curation of Contemporary Art, Social History and Mātauranga Māori.

He aha te āhuatanga o ngā mahi Penapena?

He kōrero tēnei i pā ki ngā pūkenga penapena taonga ā iwi. Ko ngā kōrero orokohanga o ngā atua Māori, te taumata tuatahi o ēnei mahi tiaki me ngā mahi penapena. Nā ngā Atua Māori i apoapo i ngā pūkenga penapena taonga. I kohi rātou ngā pūkenga, ngā kōrero, i roto i ngā Kete Mātauranga. Ko ēnei Kete Mātauranga, ngā puna mātua o ngā pūkenga penapena taonga i roto te ao ōkiko.

This presentation explores the depth of mātauranga Māori in relation to cultural material conservation. The focus will be on cultural material preservation methods and technologies developed from Mātauranga Māori.
