About/bio
Kia ora, ko Kate toko ingoa. I'm passionate about preserving textile treasures and the culture(s) of making. I have 10 years' experience working with textiles from many cultures, including European, Māori, Pacific, contemporary NZ, Native American and Asian. I love to collaborate, learn and find new ways of doing things.
In addition to my textile conservation roots, I have worked a lot with other organic materials such as tapa/bark cloth, leather, furs, hide, birdskins & feathers, quillwork, and plant material items like basketry & rāranga.
I also have experience in preventive conservation, especially Integrated Pest Management.
