About/bio
Lydia Gutierrez trained in the Conservation of Easel paintings at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. In the UK Lydia worked with leading specialists in the field of paintings conservation and research, and upon returning to NZ undertook internships and contract work with various public institutions including the Auckland Art Gallery and Dunedin Public Art Gallery. Lydia has worked privately since 2008 and specialises in paintings created using oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas, wood, and other substrates. She has extensive experience with treating paintings made by New Zealand artists ranging from the late 19th century to contemporary works. In addition to treatments, Lydia offers surveys of collections to assess their condition.
