About/bio
Cath began her career as a professional violinist and violin teacher before retraining as a luthier in her early twenties, specialising in instruments and bows of the violin family.
Qualifications and/or experience
Cath began her luthier apprenticeship under Peter Madill in 1977, and has worked continuously as a violin restorer, evaluator and conservator ever since.
Relevant training
She attended the Oberlin Violin Restoration School in 1993, studying under Vahakn Nigogosian, Ken Meyer, Yung Chin and Horatio Piniero. Other international mentors have included Christoff Goetting and Margaret Shipman.
